Tetris 99 transforms the legendary puzzle game into a frantic 99-player battle royale. You play Tetris as usual, but clearing lines sends ‘garbage’ lines to your opponents, cluttering their screens. The core gameplay is classic Tetris: rotate and drop tetrominoes to complete solid horizontal lines. In this version, clearing two or more lines at once sends garbage lines to other players’ screens. Speed is important, but efficiency is king. Focus on building a clean stack, leaving one column open for Tetris line clears (clearing four lines at once), as this sends the most garbage. A key tactic is learning to perform T-Spins, which are complex moves that send a large number of garbage lines even when clearing only two lines. Unlike the calm, strategic pace of Tetra Blocks, this game is about overwhelming your opponents. Keep an eye on the left side of the screen, which shows you how many lines are headed your way. Use the directional pad or arrow keys to move pieces left and right, and press up to rotate. Pressing down makes the piece fall faster (soft drop), and another dedicated button will make it fall instantly (hard drop).
